Given its his birthday, here's my attempt to celebrate him a bit...
Things I learned from Mr. Brock Allyn Barber:
God is not to be boxed, labeled, and categorized. Neither are people. Love them where they are and love them well.
Be aware of the grace given to you. You earned nothing in the sight of God, but he gives everything over and over and over again. In Christ we are made new. Be at peace, you're okay.
Money is nothing. God provides. Every, single time. Earn money, but spend your time investing in something more worthwhile.
Obnoxiousness is a form of love.
Never, ever, ever take a straight shot of steak sauce. Or blow up a truck. Or take your girlfriend for a motorcycle ride through the mud. Or go streaking with all the ministry students. Or accidently spray yourself in the face with pepper spray... this list could continue for a while.
Somethings are worth obsessing over...
Regular showering isn't always necessary.
It doesn't matter if you're really crappy at something as long as you pull it off with swagger.
Love your family and get homesick every once and a while.
Love well, work hard, enjoy good things, die daily, and make maps.
Here's to life and life eternal. I'll see you when I see you, love. Until then, God always continues to be kind.
