so i'm currently camping... in my studio apartment. yes friends, i have put up a 4 person tent in a space obviously not meant for 4 person tents. i'm probably going "real" camping tomorrow in zee mountayns, but i thought i needed a precursor celebration. and let me tell you, it's quite the party.
this reminds me of when i was little when the tornado sirens would go off, which seemed to happen quite frequently. those were the best nights because the whole family plus an array of pets (at one time it was 2 dogs, 3 cats, 1 gerbil, 1 hamster, and 2 parakeets) would pile down in the basement and camp out. muy spectacular and fun. i think we always left the parakeets upstairs. stupid birds.
in other news, i have a job. correction, i have 3 jobs. after close to two months scouring the area for a job, 3 plopped into my lap like a wet seal. that would be pretty cool, to have a wet seal plop into your lap. they seem pretty hefty, so that might be uncomfortable.
but yes, after quite some time turning in resumes and filling out applications, i am finally employed. the list is as follows:
1. nanny/chauffeur for 11 and 13 year old boys - basically, i pick them up from school, make sure they do their homework, and take them to soccer practice (8-10 hrs/week)
2. english conversation partner - i speak english at people at a community college (2 hrs/week)
3. bookstore lady - i play in books. and read them. hurray! (15ish hrs/week)
all in all, this makes me happy because after 6 months i finally have a schedule again. who woulda thunk i would crave such a thing. apparently being a bum isn't all that it is cracked up to be.
SURVEY QUESTION: any ideas on what i should be for halloween? i was thinking about being noah and wearing a big cardboard cut out ark with a bunch of stuffed animals. or maybe a 40's dame. or perhaps a fat old woman. ideas??
