endurance just isn't my thing. after years and years in sports with constant conditioning, i still hadn't developed any. i remember running a 5k with my dad and sister in Key West. after 1 mile i was shot. the only reason i finished the race was because my dad ran beside me and pissed me off enough to have anger become my motivation more than anything else. i finished the race sprinting and then promptly collapsed at the end gasping for air and my inhaler.
i'm pretty sure my spiritual endurance level is about the same. i have none. so i'm wondering if the same premise would work. when i want to just sit down because i'm tired and out of shape, does God need to come and piss me off so i bulldoze through it?
yeah. i didn't think so. something about that whole humility thing.
this would probably make a lot more sense if i just let Him do the running for me.
running does make one feel as though they are dying...
ReplyDelete"More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."

God sees your endurance... perhaps he was giving you an opportunity to strengthen it. If you let it, I'm sure this experience will give your endurance just the kick in the ass it was needed.
